I exhaled a slow long breath and sank back into the couch, not sure what to expect next. It had been years. Strange numbness and tingles in my teeth give me that familiar excitement as I feel my brain buzzing. That is the last bit of familiarity I feel...
Suddenly a two pronged fork of reality tears through my place, grabbing me, my couch, a speaker next to my couch, part of the wall, and half of my living room. It lifts us higher so they make take a closer view. It does not damage the walls or shake or move anything around, Just a clean slice through space and time.
It is the courtroom scene in the movie I am watching. I have chosen this movie, now they are forcing me to watch. I lay my head back and focus on the movie. I cannot look anywhere else, and it seems that the area surrounding the television is as bright as the sun so I am forced to look at the courtroom scene of the movie, three blank faces staring back at me on the screen. They're anticipating my line, I didn't know I had a line. I sense the undeniable urge to look away, but I cannot change my view. I'm not sure what I done with my head at this point, I think it involved me opening my mouth and doing something, and the courtroom scene flipped upside down. I'm not sure how it was able to flip, or if I had flipped my head, but I then moved my head forward and the screen returned right-side up . I still wasn't able to change my view, and they told me I would have to watch everything. They were feeding me so much information very quickly, I wasn't able to grasp any of it, and it would be forgotten as quickly as the message came in.
I see a giant eye over me. There are many of them watching me, but only one eye. They seem to want to observe me, but they keeping feeding me so much information that it is impossible for me to act natural for their observations. They keep giving me tasks to complete that I immediately dismiss as impossible. As soon as I dismiss one task, they give me an equally impossible task. They lift me closer to the eye so they can examine me closer. I see myself being lifted by the fork shaped device off of a giant chessboard that the eye looms over. Am I living on a chessboard? Is this some bogus meaning of life, it's a game of strategy like chess? They were very amused by my confused-panicked state of mind. The information going through my brain was making my head spin. I was feeling very exhausted at this point.
The eye did not move, it just observed me, judged me, and was telling me all that I needed to do. But I didn't want to hear them. I tried to move my head away, but I was still stuck on the television in front of me. All the tasks given to me, and the information they were passing on to me was getting to be way too much for me. I decided that too much time would pass, so I couldn't help them with the tasks. They were taking too much of my time and I needed to sleep, but they wouldn't let me get back to my bedroom and lie in my bed. And they then laughed at my plight of needing to go to bed, but my legs were stuck and there was no way of moving to my bed. I didn't need a bed though, I just needed to close my eyes and rest my head. So I looked at the couch and there was some lighter and ipod in the way, I think I seen cigarettes there as well, once again they laughed at my plight. So I felt proud of my ability to reach my hand out and brush the relics out of my way as my head came crashing down on the couch. Gone. My head hit the couch and my eyes slowly closed with lights flashing all around them. Distinct red and green shapes circle the insides of my eyelids. Almost looking as if I were going through a tunnel of some sorts. I hear nothing, not even silence.
They are moving me very fast while my eyes are closed. I'm not sure where to, but I am traveling at a speed of rate I'm sure no one has ever known before. We travel through space, through dimensions, through waves, through time. They are finding a new home for me. The next moments of time are full of strange howls and visions that are lost to me now, I feel their knowledge leaving my body, I can't hold on...
The song is over, the next song begins to play and I slowly sink back into reality. I open my eyes and look around. It seems they have set me into a new home which mimics my old home. Everything looks the same, no sign of damage on the walls. It's a perfect fit, looks exactly like my old place. I look toward the door and I feel the difference though. I do not feel that I am in the same place as when I started. They moved me into a different reality. There is something very strange and new happening outside. There is a new beginning outside. I don't know what I will face, but it won't be the same.

THE FUTILITY OF SPACE TRAVEL
But, really, it is quite an impossible task when you really look at the big picture. For us to travel in space far enough to reach anywhere meaningful in our own galaxy is sort of like trying to get an ant to travel from Los Angeles to New York. Reaching another galaxy would be like asking that same ant to then travel to the moon.
Now, in reality, the ant doesn't even have the slightest shot at making it anywhere near New York before it dies. It won't be able to churn its six legs anywhere close to that distance, and we don't have the ability to build an ant aircraft for it to fly to New York.
So, the only chance this ant has at reaching New York is to catch a ride. Maybe in some luggage or cargo in a plane, for example. This is the same for us traveling space, our only current opportunity is to catch a ride. Maybe on a comet, or asteroid...
I'm catching the next one out, who's coming with me?
So how do we come around to creating the technology that would allow us to pilot the galaxy? Even though that ant could catch a ride on a plane, it could not fly that plane, or even begin to be able to build one. Not because of mind, but because of size. The day that we humans are able to build an aircraft the size of an ant farm that is capable of flying a colony of ants from Los Angeles to New York NONSTOP. Capable of flying through a strange, dangerous environment; evading storms, birds, eagles, and other strange monsters that an ants mind could never comprehend. AND also give this small vessel enough fuel and power to make the trip within at least a couple of ant generations. The day we can do that is the day we can start really talking about traveling space, and meeting aliens. Get on it NASA.
In the meantime, I found this little gem on the interwebs one day. It's hard to see, so you'll have to zoom in to get a good read. I recommend you download it and study it on your own time. How to handle getting abducted by aliens.
The size of space is so enormous, to think that any creature that we meet from another planet would be even closely the same size as us, or even related any other way. It's quite indescribable how truly odd they may be. Yet most peoples imaginations don't venture beyond “The Greys”
There is no way of knowing whether or not someday a passing spaceship the size of three suns comes by and scoops our sun up for a quick fuel refill, you know, between wormholes or what have you. The game Spore is a good example of this.
Who knew? We may actually live in a video game after all.

Top 10 Albums of the 2000s
Top song: ALL OF THEM
What more could I say. I loved Tool from the first minute I listened to them way back in the mid 90's, and they just keep getting better album after album. I hate having to wait 5 years between album releases, but it is definitely worth the wait every time. Released in 2006, that means hopefully we will have more Tool to listen to next year in 2011, five years later.
2. Tool - Lateralus (2001)
Top song: Reflection
This album came out just at the right time. Not much great music was coming out, and all of my favorite bands of the time (Korn, Limp Bizkit) were releasing music that I was very disappointed in. Tool gave me the first album that I was totally hyped over for months before release, that didn't disappoint in the slightest. From the very first bass note in Grudge, to the personal closeness of Parabola, to the spacey realm of Reflection, to the Area 51 outro of Faaip de Oaid, what is there not to love about this perfect album.
3. The Mars Volta - De-Loused in the Comatorium (2003)
Top song: Eria Tarka
Who could ever think that chaos would sound so wonderful. The Mars Volta uses of so many different electronic sounds to create a strange dreamscape of real music, it is quite indescribable. They're crazy use of their instruments is almost outshined by their crazy use of the english and spanish language to create words and phrases that normal people just cannot comprehend. With songs like Drunkship of Lanterns, Eria Tarka, and Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt, The Mars Volta has created a new way of creating music, art, and expression of self.
4. System Of A Down - Toxicity (2001)
Top song: Shimmy
System of a Down were able to really change the road metal and all music was on. They were able to bring thrash metal into a new light, and were the perfect torchbearers of "protest rock" after Rage Against the Machine died away. Serj has one of the most distinctive voices of all music, and the band influences my personal musical creations all the time.
5. A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step (2003)
Top song: Gravity
What can I say, Maynard James Keenan is a genius. Now, A Perfect Circle's first album, Mer De Noms, was a great piece of music, but I could never think of it as anything more than "Tool Light" due to Maynard's standard voicework, and the band playing Tool-esque rhythms. But their second release, Thirteenth Step, really set them on a new direction and Maynard used a whole new range with his voice. Between the bass heavy, but ambient "The Package", and the hilariously depressing "The Nurse Who Loved Me", the band showed that they were a force of their own, and not just some dull side project of Billy Howerdel and MJK.
6. Gnarls Barkley - St. Elsewhere (2006)
Top song: Smiley Faces
Yes, music can be fun. Yes, everyone loves to dance to a great beat. This is my only album on this list that is non-rock. A fusion of DangerMouse and Cee-Lo, this album taught me that music can be nothing but fun. I do believe that 50 years down the road, this album right here will be shown as one of the most influential albums for future musicians. This is the future of music.
7. The Mars Volta - Bedlam in Goliath (2008)
Top song: Goliath
The Mars Volta is a great band, and their music is very inspiring. Sometimes they can go a little off the deep end though, and some of their songs may miss the mark. That did not happen on this album here, though. They did not miss the mark at all, they created an experience with this album. The music is perfect, and the story behind the music is as compelling as it comes. The most important thing is the new drummer they had for the album, Thomas Pridgen. In my eyes probably the greatest drummer alive behind Danny Carey. His ability to fill in any split second of music with amazing drumming work, his breakneck speed, and his ability to work the timing of a song, no matter what crazy time signature The Mars Volta goes with, really shows in these songs. Hell, I would pay money to listen to just the drum tracks of this album over and over again, they are that unique and strong.
8. Muse - Black Holes and Revelations (2006)
Top song: Knights of Cydonia
Muse's music is very poppy, with a lot of love themes, and is sexually driven. It is also very enticing, I can't get enough of the rocking riffs they create. It still seems that people don't give them enough credit for being such great musician. Their three person band creates a full atmosphere of music that a five or six person band couldn't create (I'm looking at you Linkin Park, losers). I give them all the credit in the world for making music that crossed all sorts of genres, and comes close to being in a genre all by itself.
9. Chevelle - This Type of Thinking Could Do Us In (2004)
Top song: Another Know It All
Chevelle is a great band, and have made a lot of great songs over the years, but I cannot really enjoy any of their albums in full, from start to end besides "This Type of Thinking Could Do Us In", this album has the continuity that their other albums didn't. Their other albums for me were just a mixture of some hits and some misses. This album is all smash hits from start to end. Though their music can be a little generic at times, I think they have a great sense of musical taste, and I will enjoy their work for a long time to come.
10. Mudvayne - The End of All Things To Come (2002)
Top song: Skrying
Closing out the top ten is Mudvayne. To some metal fans, these guys seemed to be lost behind other mainstream metal giants like Slipknot, System of A Down, and others who dominated the metal scene early in the decade. But Mudvayne has a unique sound with a fantastic singer, and an absolute AMAZING bass player. This album blended their sound into a masterpiece of aggressive music that gives me chills still to this day when I put on "Skrying".
Honorable Mention: Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP - YOU DON'T WANT TO FUCK WITH SHADY, CUZ SHADY WILL FUCKING KILL YOU

Iran, and the importance of the second amendment
The problem that these people are facing is that their government is in total control. Religious leaders rule their lives, there is no way to escape it. The protesters in Iran are fighting to the death, but it is most likely that they will die in vain. The government will regain control, silence remaining protesters, and turn the dead into Enemies of the Nation through their propaganda. There is no stopping the government, because the government controls the guns. Average Iranians have no right to bear arms, and cannot own guns. So the only people who have guns are the military, police, terrorists, and crooks. So Iran is ruled by the aforementioned. So these fucking crooks can rig an election, control lives, suppress women, and kill dissenters because no matter how much heart is in these nonviolent "peaceful protesters" they will bleed out eventually.
Now, I am all for peaceful protests here in America, but we need our right to own guns, because our country has been run by crooks in the past. *cough*Nixon-Reagan-Bush-Cheney*cough*. But they couldn't grab any absolute power because we have guns. They know they can't fuck with us, cause just like the Iranians, we will fight to the death for our freedom. But having guns on both sides make it a fair fight.
If only certain people have the right to own guns, that means only certain people have rights. I see no reason why military, police, terrorists, or crooks should have more rights than me. The right to fight for what I am willing to die for, and the ability to equip myself for the fight.
The people of Iran have no guns, and they have no voice. Their only voice to tell the world of their fight is the interwebs, but if you remember Obama's answer to the question he took on the legalization of marijuana on the online town hall, he doesn't know what to say about the online audience. It's a a joke to him.
Second Amendment, Bitch

You Say You Want A Revolution?
So it started with a disputed presidential election. But now has blown up to something much larger. People all over Iran are questioning their whole system of government. It looks like we may have a social revolution coming, thanks in large part to these here interwebs. Between twitter and youtube and a shitload of other new ways of communicating, the people of Iran are expressing a right to assemble and protest, something their government doesn't believe is a right. This was from a CNN ireport, from an Iranian:
Iran Tonight (Friday night) after supreme leader comments, everybody shouting ALAHO AKBAR(god is great) from their roofs, which means goto hell supreme leader, we are THE ONE, We are IRANIANS
Girl's comments:
Friday 18 June 2009, tomorrow is Saturday, tomorrow is a VERY important day
Tonight ALAHO AKBAR (the god is great) in louder than any night
Where is this place? Where is this place that every path is closed on it?
Where is this place? That people only have God to ask for help?
Where is this place? That ALAHO AKBAR is getting louder and louder every night?
My body is shivering, is god shivering too?
Where is this place? That all innocent people stocked in?
Where is this place? Where nobody helping us?
Where is this place? Where we only screaming to the world with our silence?
Where is this place? That young people are being killed and people stand in the streets and pray on their bloods?
Where is this place? That all of the people are being named as thugs?
Where is this place? THIS IS IRAN, this is my country and this is your country also.
I will be following this very closely. It's very inspiring. These are real people fighting for real freedom. Fight On
