the two faced world

FISA Amendments Act of 2008 (retroactive immunity for phone companies allowing government officials to illegally wiretap our phones)

* 2008-06-20: Passed the U.S. House of Representatives, by a 293 to 129 vote.

* 2008-06-26: A Senate vote was delayed by a filibuster spearheaded by Senators Russ Feingold and Chris Dodd. Feingold said the bill threatened civil liberties in the United States. Dodd has said granting retroactive immunity would undermine the rule of law.

* 2008-07-09: Dodd's amendment calling for a striking of Title II (the immunity provisions) was rejected 66 to 32. The bill itself was then put to a vote and passed 69 to 28.

* 2008-07-10: President George W. Bush signed the bill into law.

They called it a senate surrendering to the president. How? How, in today's world, when two of the senators are making plans to soon be president, how does the democratic congress bow to the pressures of George Bush, and give the fucker more power to spy on us. 69-28, the senate gave Bush exactly what he wanted. Obama doesn't say one word and votes in favor of the government's right to wiretap at will. No oversight. Ugh.

How fucked. There really is no hope for anything at this point. The government will never be that glimmer of hope so many people wish it to be. There is no conscience, just governance.

Money. I need to start stashing it. Different countries denominations and everything. Like I'm fucking Jason Bourne or something. I'd have hidden stashes. So when shit starts to implode, At least I will have some cold hard green in my hand. Not in any corporate owned bank entity. Cash in hand. Euros in hand. Pesos in hand.

I'm not telling you where I will put it though.

Suck on this FISA with whipped cream
