"The question is not 'are you better off than you were four years ago?' The real Question is 'will you be better off four years from now?'" ~~~Barack Obama
Victory. It happened. I can finally breathe again. The past eight years has come around back around and the Bush dynasty is slowly slipping away. Ronald Reagan is dead and the Reagan Era Republic is dead. It's time for the country to chart a new course. Byebye Nixon/Reagan/Bush, you shall hold no more control over this country.
Barack Obama got over 300 electoral votes. That's perfect. Anything under 300 would have been a failure. It feels so good, I can finally stop worrying and get back to talking shit on America. The country is finally in competent hands so now I can go back to criticizing my government, if McCain would've won, I would have had to go march on Washington D.C.
Man, if Obama would have lost, do you know what that means? If Obama lost, it would've meant Rush Limbaugh won. That's the only chance Obama had of losing. It would have meant that Rush Limbaugh and his hate speeches really were the voice of this nation. Wow, that would have hurt. I mean, come on, he ran a perfect campaign(McCain ran a disastrously unorganized campaign) , he introduced himself well to a nation that needed real change. He kept a steady gaze whether it was when he was pushing back against the powerhouse Clintons, or when he was fighting off horrible smears from ignorant racists. And of course, he gave a voice not only to african americans, but to so many people of different dimensions and backgrounds who have felt so disenfranchised. He captivated me, and I have always been very cynical of government on all levels.
Hope. He gave me real Hope.
McCain could have run a good campaign. McCain could have shown the country a good alternative. McCain could have won this election.
But he didn't. McCain went against his own common sense years ago, he sold his soul to the neocon devil and became exactly what they wanted him to be. At that point he already lost. He chose Sarah Palin and they ran the most evil campaign since... well... since Bush and Rove. But they couldn't get through this time with their ugly campaign. There was no way they could overcome America's new awakening. The only way that McCain could win, was to make Obama lose. They couldn't make it about real issues, they needed to make us fear the unknown black man.
Arianna Huffington from HuffingtonPost writes:
" Be afraid of Obama, the GOP warned us. Be afraid of something new, something different. He would meet with our enemies. His middle name is Hussein. He "pals around with terrorists," consorts with the radicals at Acorn (which is "destroying the fabric of democracy"), and doesn't see America "like you and I see America." A vote for Obama would be "dangerous" and "too risky for America."
The people of America listened, but chose to take the risk. "
So true. Hope finally overcame fear.
